 ART BY BRETT WHITACRE I paint on discarded objects. Storm windows, suitcases, televisions- they are free canvases that line Chicago's alleyways. I like combining popular and personal images to give these a second chance. All paint is applied using masking tape and spray cans, a medium that lends itself well to playing with and distorting color with some room for happy accidents. Finding and revivifying these pieces is instantly gratifying and i want the work itself to be the same way. |
